Dr. Ahmad Raza, MD, MHA is a staff physician in the Oncology Institute at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi.

Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Dr. Raza served as Assistant Professor of Hematology and Oncology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center New York, US, and as Director, Cheryl R. Lindenbaum Comprehensive Cancer Center NewYork Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital, US.

Dr. Raza completed his medical degree from Nishtar Medical College Multan, Pakistan. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Medical Oncology and Hematology. He completed his fellowship in Hematology and Medical Oncology from the Division of Hematology Oncology and Transplant, University of Minnesota, US. He completed his Internal Medicine residency training from St Barnabas Hospital Weill Medical College of Cornell University New York, US, where he was named for the best resident of the year award. He earned a Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) from the Division of Health Policy and Management, University of Minnesota School of Public Health, US.

Dr. Raza’s full time practice at Columbia University included all solid tumors, malignant hematology and malignant hematology. He was named among the best doctors in Westchester County, New York, US. At NewYork Presbyterian he was a member of the Medical Board and chair of the transfusion committee. He established a lung cancer screening program and also established a clinical trial program at Hudson Valley hospital.

Prior to that, Dr. Ahmad Raza served as Assistant Professor of Medicine in the division of Hematology, Oncology and Transplant at University of Minnesota Medical Center, US. He served a large patient base at M Health Cancer Care community sites and also at the Masonic Cancer Clinic. He is very passionate as a teacher and has mentored students from St. Olaf College Minnesota, US, taught a blood pathophysiology course at the University of Minnesota Medical School and mentored residents at fellows.

Dr. Akin Tekin is a Professor of Clinical Surgery at the University of Miami and a key figure at the Miami Transplant Institute, one of the largest and most prominent institutions for abdominal transplantation in the United States.

Dr. Tekin's involvement with the transplant team dates back to 1999 when he began as an intensive care fellow, eventually completing his surgical residency and fellowship at the University of Miami –Jackson Health System.

Since 2008, he has served as a faculty member, following the completion of a three-year post-graduate fellowship training in abdominal transplantation at the Miami Transplant Institute. Dr. Tekin specializes in adult and pediatric liver and intestinal, multivisceral transplantation, as well as complex hepatobiliary surgery.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Tekin is a teaching faculty member at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and is actively engaged in basic science and clinical research, including experimental uterine transplantation in primates.

Dr. Cristiano Quintini, MD, is Chair of the Digestive Disease Institute at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi.

Dr. Quintini was the Director of the Liver Transplant Program at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio United States.

Dr. Quintini received his medical degree from University of Bologna, Italy and completed his residency at University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, Italy.

Throughout his tenure, Dr. Quintini has specialized in liver transplantation and complex liver abdominal cancer surgery completing over 2000+ operations. Dr. Quintini's passion for clinically impactful innovation culminated in pioneering work in the field of organ preservation and uterus transplantation.

Dr. Dean Park, MD, is a Staff Physician in the Oncology Institute at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi.

Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Dr. Park was a Staff Physician in hematology/oncology at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, US. At various points he led the Thoracic Malignancies team and the Gastrointestinal/Genitourinary Malignancies team. He was concurrently an Assistant Professor at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences.

Dr. Park also previously worked as an Attending Physician in hematology/oncology at the South Bend Clinic in South Bend, Indiana, US. He was concurrently an Assistant Professor at Indiana University School of Medicine.

Dr. Park received his medical degree from the University of Virginia, US. He completed his residency at the University of Chicago and his hematology/oncology fellowship at Vanderbilt University, Tennessee, US.

Dr. Federico Aucejo is Professor of Surgery at Cleveland Clinic Lerner School of Medicine, and Director of the Liver Cancer Program and Multidisciplinary Liver Tumor Clinic at Cleveland Clinic main campus.

Dr. Aucejo graduated from Favaloro Foundation School of Medicine in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and completed General Surgery Residency at Hospital Pirovano in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Dr. Aucejo completed training in abdominal organ transplantation and liver surgery in Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York and Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio.

Dr Aucejo’s professional interest and expertise include advanced liver surgery, minimally invasive liver surgery, and outcomes and translational research in liver malignancy. Dr. Aucejo has produced numerous peer reviewed scientific publications and book chapters, and participated in numerous lectures at national and international scientific hepato-pancreato-biliary (HPB) and transplant meetings.

Dr. Fabrizio was Born and raised in Catania.

Fabrizio Di Benedetto had his surgical education in Milan and started his academical career in Modena. In 2007 he joined the Master in Hepatic Pancreatic and Biliary Cancers (“Diplome d’Université”) Onco-surgical Strategies at Hopital Paul Brousse, Villejuif – France.

Currently he is full professor of surgery at University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, where he directs the hepato-pancreato-biliary surgery and liver transplantation unit, being in charge of the kidney transplant program, and he is also Program Director of the General Surgery Residency Program at University of Modena.

He started a prolific HPB robotic program in 2014, reaching important milestones like the first full robotic ALPPS for hepatocellular carcinoma and cholangiocarcinoma and counting nowadays over 300 HPB robotic procedures. The program was further enriched in 2019 with the introduction of kidney procurement for LDKT and also robotic kidney transplant.

He is Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, leader of the Pancreas Study Group of ISLS, participate in the Special Interest Group of ILTS “Advanced Techniques in Hepatobiliary Surgery”, and he is member of the board of the Italian registry of minimally invasive liver surgery (IgoMILS) and faculty of the School of Robotic Surgery in Grosseto. Robotic liver and pancreatic surgery, living donor liver transplant and transplant oncology are currently the field of research of Prof. Di Benedetto.

Dr. Giuseppe Iuppa, MD, is a Staff Physician in the Digestive Disease Institute at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi.

Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Dr. Iuppa served at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland, Ohio and at the San Marino State Hospital in San Marino.

Throughout his career, Dr. Iuppa has specialized in Liver Transplants and Hepatobiliary Surgery as a fellow of the American Society of Transplant Surgeons, completing over 500 operations.

Dr. Iuppa received his medical degree from the University of Catania, Italy and completed his residency at the University of Catania, Italy. He completed a research fellowship at Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland investigating the field of Normothermic Machine Perfusion for Liver Transplant. During this period, he published a number of papers and was involved in the work that led to the start of the first human trial on NMP in the US.

Dr. Iuppa resides in Abu Dhabi, with his wife and three children. When he's not working at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Dr. Iuppa enjoys playing waterpolo, diving and crossfit training. He is also a music and cinema enthusiast.

Dr. Manji is an Associate Professor of Medicine, Director of Gastrointestinal Medical Oncology, co-Director of the Pancreas Center, and co-leader of the Precision Oncology and Systems Biology program within the Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center.

He joined the Hematology and Oncology Fellowship Program at Columbia University to pursue his interest in bench to bedside research understanding the role of the tumor immune microenvironment in cancer, with a particular focus in pancreas cancer.

Dr. Manji’s research has led to six investigator-initiated multicenter clinical trials in sarcoma, gastrointestinal, and pancreatic cancers.

His laboratory research, in collaboration with Dr. Kenneth Olive, targeting the immunosuppressive CXCR4-CXCL12 pathway in pancreatic cancer received the Young Investigator Award from the American Society of Clinical Oncology and led to the pilot clinical trial in stage IV pancreatic cancer which he leads. Encouraging results from the pilot trial have led to activation of a randomized phase 2 multicenter investigator initiated clinical trial.

He is a key opinion leader in pancreas cancer and serves as a member on multiple national committees, including the National Cancer Institute Pancreas Task Force. Dr. Manji's research career in identifying new genes and their implication in disease and overseeing clinical trials have led to numerous key publications and an issued patent.

Dr. Manji is a co-Principal investigator of multiple NIH funded grants (R01 and U01). He remains committed to bringing novel promising agents from the laboratory to the clinic in hopes to improve the clinical outcome in pancreatic cancer.

Prof. Humaid Obaid Al-Shamsi is the Director of Oncology Services at Burjeel Holding UAE and Burjeel Oncology GCC, President of the Emirates Oncology Society, Lead of the Gulf Cancer Society, Professor of Oncology at the Gulf Medical University, Ajman, UAE, and an adjunct Professor of Oncology at the College of Medicine at the University of Sharjah. He is the first Emirati to be promoted to professor of oncology in the UAE. He is also the Chairman for Colorectal Cancer in the MENA region, appointed by the prestigious National Comprehensive Cancer Network®. He is the Chairman of the Oncology and Hematology Fellowship Training Program for the National Institute for Health Specialties in the United Arab Emirates. He is the only member of the GCC in the WIN Consortium, which is comprised of organizations representing major stakeholders in personalized cancer medicine globally.

He received his MB degree from the National University of Irland , Cork University. He completed his internal medicine , Medical Oncology fellowship , Gastrointestinal Oncology and pallitative care fellowships from McMaster University

He is the only physician in the UAE with a subspecialty fellowship certification and training in gastrointestinal oncology and the first Emirati to train and complete a clinical post-doctoral fellowship in palliative care. He was an assistant professor at McMaster University between 2013 -2015 and the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center between 2014 to 2017.

He has published more than 120 peer-reviewed articles in JAMA Oncology, Lancet Oncology, The Oncologist, BMC Cancer, and many others. His area of expertise includes precision oncology and cancer care in the UAE. In 2016, he published with his group the JCO paper describing a new distinct subgroup of CRC, the non-V600 BRAF-mutated CRC. In 2022, he published the first book about cancer research in the UAE and also the first book about cancer in the Arab World, both of which were launched at Dubai Expo 2020. “Cancer in the Arab World” has been downloaded more than 400,000 times in its first 18 months of publication. He also published, as an editor, the first comprehensive book about cancer care in the UAE, which is the first book in UAE history to document cancer care in the UAE, with many topics addressed for the first time, e.g., neuroendocrine tumors in the UAE.

He is passionate about advancing cancer care in the UAE and the GCC and has made significant contributions to cancer awareness and early detection for the public using social media platforms. Dr. Hicham T. Abada, MD, is Chief of Interventional Radiology in the Imaging Institute at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi.

Prior to Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Dr. Abada was appointed Associate Professor at the University of Kentucky and University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, where he led different clinical programs, such as, the Uterine Fibroid Program and the Peripheral vascular Imaging program. Dr. Abada also has prior experience working in Europe (Belgium & France). Dr. Abada has extensive clinical expertise in the field of peripheral vascular disease, embolization and interventional oncology. He co-developed, in France, the program of Post-Partum Hemorrhage that is still one of the most active in Paris.

His areas of research include imaging of aorta, endovascular aortic repair follow up and management, radiation dose optimization and renal denervation.

Dr. Petrowsky received his medical degree from the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt, Germany. and completed his training in general surgery in 2005 at the University Hospital in Zurich, Switzerland. He spent a two-year research fellowship at Rockefeller Research Laboratories, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York. Dr. Petrowsky completed the Novartis Clinical Fellowship in HPB Surgery and Liver transplantation at the University Hospital Zurich and the UCLA/ASTS Multi-Organ Fellowship at the University of California, Los Angeles.

He was appointed as Assistant Professor of Surgery at Dumont-UCLA Transplant Center at Ronald Reagan Medical Center at UCLA in 2009. In 2013, he was recruited as Vice Chair of the Department of Surgery and Transplantation at the University of Zürich, Switzerland. His current practice consists of all fields of HPB surgery and liver transplantation.

Luis Campos, MD received his Medical Degree at the La Salle University in Mexico City and completed a General Surgery and Transplant Fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, USA.

Dr. Shiva Kumar, MD, is the Chief of Gastroenterology and Hepatology in the Digestive Disease Institute at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi.

Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Dr. Kumar served as Medical Director of Liver Transplantation and Primary Liver Physician at two liver transplant centers in the US for more than eight years. He was also Director of Hepatology sub-specialty fellowship training at Ochsner Clinic, New Orleans, Louisiana, US. He also served as Clinical Adjunct Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, US.

Dr. Kumar graduated from the University of Kerala Medical School, India and completed his residency and chief residency in Internal Medicine at Our Lady of Mercy University Medical Center, New York, US. He then pursued sub-specialty fellowship training in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota, US. He completed additional clinical and research training in Hepatology at the Liver Unit of the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas, Texas, US.
